Faculty of Information Technologies (FIT)

Faculty of Information Technologies (FIT) – is a new name of the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics, which has received as a result of reorganization in year 2006. With a considerable experience in education faculty trains highly qualified specialists in 7 majors. Departments of Management and informatics in technical systems and Computing machinery, complexes and networks will celebrate their 40th anniversary soon.

Faculty of Information Technologies celebrates its birthday twice a year – on the 31st of January, when departments of physical and mathematical branches have been separated from the Faculty Informatics and Applied Mathematics (FIAM) into another Faculty and on the 7th of April when 13 years ago FIAM has been established.

At the FIT are educated about 1000 full-time students and more than 360 correspondence students.

There are seven major specialties:

  • Applied informatics in economics
  • Complex protection of information objects
  • Computing machinery, complexes and networks
  • Management and informatics in technical systems
  • Communication facilities with moving crafts
  • Information technologies in education
  • Information systems and technologies  

Faculty trains bachelors and masters (4 and 2 years of education) in specialties of high professional education “Informatics and computing machinery” (230100) and “Information systems”(230200) in programs: “Distributed automated systems” (552822); “CAD of computing machineries and information and management systems”(552817); “Management of information systems”(554416); “Distributed information systems”(554421).

Classes at the faculty are conducted by experienced and highly qualified lectures including 10 doctors and 41 candidates of  science.

All departments have postgraduate courses and well developed research basis. There are postgraduate and doctoral candidacy scientific councils for defense of PhD s and doctoral thesis’s.

Faculty actively develops international cooperation with Universities if USA, Canada Germany, Sweden and other countries. Training for students and staff, joint conferences and international projects are organized.

About 100 foreign students and postgraduates study at the Faculty of Information Technologies.
